Viet Nam Tours
In 2009, Dave hosted and guided a tour to the Long Tan battlefield for the Australia Vietnam Volunteers Resource Group (AVVRG), a registered charity.  This has led to the development of other tours to Viet Nam.....

AVVRG CHARITY
LONG TAN TOURS

In October 2009, Dave hosted an AVVRG ( http://avvrg.org.au ) Charity Tour to the area of Australian operations during the Viet Nam War.

The AVVRG website will explain the origins, aims and projects of this charity group which has, among MANY other projects, the custodianship of the Long Tan Cross.

Reports from all participants were that the tour was very well received.  We walked the battlefield and Dave was able to explain many details while on the actual battle sites - which have changed very little in 43 years.

The tour proved so successful that those on it demanded it happen again - annually!  So it's on again for 2010 in October.

<--- Here's a downloadable flyer.

The key feature of the 2010 Long Tan tour will be a 4-hour walk through the battlefield which is the time it took for the whole battle to play out.  Therefore Dave will narrate the events of the battle in "real time" - it's not often you can walk a battlefield that looks much as it looked then, with a commander from the battle and have it all explained on the sites and in "real time".

The flyer explains how to get additional information.

<--- And here's a downloadable itinerary (12 pages, Jan 2010).

Tell your friends.  Consider joining the tour.

THE 12 DECISIVE BATTLEFIELDS OF THE 3 VIET NAM WARS

Under development is a 15-day/14-night tour (leave Australia on a Saturday, arrive back Sunday fortnight) which will either visit or have presentations on the 12 decisive battles/battlefields that determined the outcomes of the three Indo-China Wars.

This combined tour would include the 4-hour ("real time") walk of the Long Tan battlefield.  Dates to be advised.  But as well as these open tours, there will be...

TAILORED GROUP TOURS.
Provision can be made to cater for tours by specific groups.  We currently have a request for a Police-Members-Only group and could well have interest for a Serving-&-ex-Services-Only group.  The criteria would be that between 32 (min) and 42 (max) passengers would be needed, but the tour would be "tailored" for the group requesting it.

Once the size, date, duration and desired hotel-quality is known, a tour cost is generated and the tour opened to bookings.

There is a small charity element built into the tour, half of which would be directed to the group's specified charity and the other half to the AVVRG ( http://avvrg.org.au ).

As more details become available, this website will be updated.  The first of these Tailored Group tours won't be available until September 2010 at the earliest.

Here's an opportunity for groups of like-minded travellers to have a tour tailored for your specific needs.  You only need 32 to 42 travellers. If this type of tour is of interest, please use the "Contact Us" page of this website to contact Dave for discussions.
